Hope in the Heartache

In the parenting journey, it’s not a matter of might or maybe, but when difficulty hits our lives.

It’s inevitable that there will be difficult circumstances we have to navigate while parenting, but fortunately, there are some strategies that can help us work through them in a way that honors God and the call He has for us to disciple the students He has entrusted into our care.

As leaders, we are often called upon to step into places of pain and sorrow, but we don’t always know what to do or how we can help.

As church leaders, we are called to help those who are in need and hurting. When we come across parents in our ministry who are hurting, we have to ask ourselves, “What do they need, and how can we help?”

While many voices offer rich, wisdom-filled instruction, others are far from life-giving. It’s our job to filter out the noise that tries to pull our kids away from God’s truth as we surround them with other voices that teach them to follow Jesus.

As parents, we have the opportunity, and I would argue the responsibility, to help our teens land on a healthy identity that is rooted in Christ and their relationship with Him.
